What the course is about

In this course, you'll be able to unleash your creative potential by learning the art of conveying unique perspectives of architecture and capturing the feeling of the moment through painting.

I'm always on the lookout for new textures and surfaces to use in my work. We'll learn how to depict a soft sky, fog, wet asphalt, and different types of building lighting at various times of the year and day. You'll be able to easily build perspective and work with photo references to create your own pieces.

Lesson 1

Getting to Know the Teacher

Greeting and introduction to the teacher.

Lesson 2

Materials + Exercise on Washes and Blends

Let's get acquainted with the materials for the course and do a small exercise that will be useful both in the course and in watercolor painting in general.

You will learn:

  • to choose materials for yourself;
  • to understand what to look for when selecting materials;
  • to do exercises on washes and blends.

Lesson 3

«The Beauty of the East»

Duration: 2 hours

We will start our course in the ancient city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

You will learn:

  • to create perspective with a single vanishing point;
  • to consider different approaches to composition;
  • to do tonal analysis;
  • to depict soft sunset lighting;
  • to simplify the overall drawing without losing details.

Lesson 4

«New York in the Fog»

In this lesson, we will depict a rainy and foggy New York.

In this lesson, we will depict one of the largest churches in St. Petersburg - Kazan Cathedral!

  • to convey the texture of wet pavement with puddles;
  • to structure and detail Kazan Cathedral;
  • to emphasize the silhouette;
  • to analyze the work by tone and select the tone and color for the asphalt to give the impression of a wet surface;
