What will you paint during the marathon

Day 1

Let's paint an old town

In this lesson, we’ll:

  • let's work on capturing sunlight
  • let’s focus on the shadows
  • let's explore how warm and cool shades play together in the shadows and in the light
  • let's go over some tricks to make sunlight look more realistic
  • we’ll work both on wet and dry paper
Day 2

Let's paint rain in Amsterdam

In this lesson, we’ll:

  • let's paint rain in the city
  • let's paint moist air and building silhouettes
  • we’ll be looking for a balance between detail and a light, airy feel
  • we’ll blend colors into each other and soften up the shapes
Day 3

Let's draw lilacs in the courtyard

In this lesson, we’ll:

  • let's paint a courtyard with lilac bushes and that fresh, spring May air
  • we’ll learn how to work around the light areas of the paper using darks
Day 4

Let's draw an evening walk

In this lesson, we’ll:

  • let's paint a street filled with moist air and glowing with electric light
  • let's add some light contrast with a dark sky
  • let’s focus mainly on color contrast
Day 5

Let's paint a courtyard in France

In this lesson, we’ll:

  • let's paint a cozy courtyard filled with sunligh
  • let's keep working with shadows and reflection
  • let’s pay special attention to how transparent the shadows ar
  • let's find out how to make shadows feel light, how to fill them with details, and still keep everything looking brigh

What materials we will use at the marathon

2.Paper 26×36. Preferably cotton, 300 g. Baohong

3. Paints «White Nights»

4.Masking tape

5.Paper towel

6.White gouache

7.Pencil and eraser

8.Plastic sheet for fixing the paper

9.Two containers with water

10.A hairdryer and masking fluid might come in handy
