What is the course about?

We invite you to an exciting journey into the world of watercolor painting, where you'll learn to create stunning natural landscapes! In our course you'll get to know a variety of watercolor techniques, like dry brush, glazing, wet-on-wet work, flat and gradient washes, and paint splattering.

You'll create 8 unique landscapes that will help you capture nature's beauty using different textures and color transitions. You won't just learn the basic principles of watercolor painting — you'll also learn the rules of composing a natural landscape, so you can freely express your ideas and emotions on paper.

Clouds in the Mountains

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Let's start our course with a misty natural landscape. We'll paint a long road that stretches far into the mountains.

You will learn how to:

  • work in a "wet-on-wet" technique;
  • create a mist effect in a mountain landscape;
  • work on the details in the foreground;
  • apply the law of aerial perspective;
  • see in planes.

Lesson 4

Winter Day

Duration: 2 hours

Look at this lovely little house in the winter forest that we'll paint together today.

You will learn how to:

  • apply the rules of linear perspective;
  • use the technique of constructing a simple architectural form using a house as an example;
  • create an airy atmosphere in a winter landscape.

Lesson 5

Evening in the Forest

Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

Let's paint tall trees in a snowy forest and capture the beauty of sunset light.

You will learn how to:

  • create soft, sunlit lighting in a landscape;
  • use the silhouette technique for depicting trees;
  • create airy snow using the "wet-on-wet" technique.

Lesson 6

Mastering Watercolor Washes

In this lesson you'll learn how to make watercolor washes and use them in your paintings.

Lesson 7

Road to the Dam

Duration: 2 hours

In this lesson we'll paint a winter landscape using a limited palette, and we'll also paint a river with beautiful sunlit highlights.

You will learn how to:

  • convey depth in space by using the laws of linear perspective and tonal relationships in a landscape;
  • realistically paint water and reflections.

Lesson 8

Austrian Mountains

Duration: 2 hours

Austria is famous for its ski resorts. Today we'll be at one of them and paint a picturesque mountain landscape.

You will learn how to:

  • paint cumulus clouds in watercolor;
  • work on techniques for painting snowy mountains in strong, contrasting sunlight.

Caucasus Mountains

Duration: 2 hours

Today we'll travel to the heart of the Caucasus and paint a stunning mountain landscape.

You will learn how to:

  • paint a scene focused on the middle ground;
  • apply a glazing technique to depict mountain peaks.

Lesson 10

Inspiration in Action: How Energy Shapes Creative Mood

In this lesson we'll talk about how your energy level affects creativity, and reflect on inspiration and how to keep a creative mood going.

Lesson 11

Sinichka River

Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

In this lesson we'll paint a sunny landscape with a river in the Moscow region.

You will learn how to:

  • create stone texture;
  • use the "splattering" paint technique;
  • select colors for painting summer greenery.

Lesson 12

High in the Mountains

Duration: 2 hours

The final painting of the course will be a winter landscape with a solitary tree against a snowy plain and majestic mountains. Let's capture the light and the peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful scene!

You will learn how to:

  • paint a composition focused on the foreground;
  • create bright, sunny lighting in a landscape;
  • create a sense of motion using the rules of linear perspective.

I have no painting skills at all. Should I join the course?

Absolutely — it's worth it! The course is designed so you start with simple paintings and move on to more complex ones, so you'll have time to get into the process and achieve great results.

The course will also be useful for experienced artists. You'll be able to further refine your technique and expand your visual library.

At the end of the lesson you'll upload a photo of your work. The instructor will be able to leave a text comment, graphical notes (marks on the painting), and an audio comment.

At the bottom of each lesson there will be a comments section where you can ask any questions about the course.

If you're on a plan without feedback, it all depends on your personal pace for going through the lessons.
