What will you paint during the marathon

Day 1

«Autumn City»

In this lesson, you will:

  • study linear and aerial perspective;
  • learn to choose the correct, comfortable horizon line for expressiveness of our scene (here it is low, creating space in 3D and objects moving into the depth);
  • highlight perspective planes in the painting through backlighting of objects;
  • create an image of morning in the painting through the dynamics of color and light.
Day 2

«Winter in the Village»

In this lesson, you will:

  • learn to convey the feeling of a frosty day;
  • master techniques for lightening pigment selection (almost to white) on a fully covered sky surface;
  • apply wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet techniques and understand where it is more advantageous to use each for this scene;
  • learn to figuratively draw country houses and add character to rural life.
Day 3

«Summer Thunderstorm»

In this lesson, you will:

  • learn to depict a natural scene with a seascape;
  • experience the emotional and figurative sense of dynamics and contrast in nature — calm water surface versus the movement of an approaching storm;
  • show the unity of water and sky through wet and dry paper techniques;
  • master technical methods: tape use, splattering, scratching.
Day 4

«City in Snow»

In this lesson, you will:

  • learn to create a color transition in the painting: close shades of silvery-cool tones combined with warm accents;
  • practice large washes, following from general to specific;
  • paint architectural objects without copying details from the reference;
  • figuratively depict cars and people.
Day 5

«Spring Shore»

In this lesson, you will:

  • work in the aura of spring, awakening nature;
  • learn to paint reflections in calm lake water;
  • apply the law of aerial perspective to create depth in the painting;
  • learn various techniques for depicting trees and shoreline using graphics.

Join all three broadcasts to get access an extra bonus lesson, «Spring Venice»

In this lesson, you will:

  • learn how to capture the harmony between water and city architecture;
  • you’ll paint both the architecture and its reflection in the water boldly and confidently;
  • you’ll capture the vibe of the architecture, boats, and all the unique features of this city on the water;
  • you’ll try working on both wet and dry paper.
