Program of the marathon

Day 1

We'll draw a «Falcon»

In the lesson, we will:

  • we will make a pencil sketch of a bird with the help of simple figures;
  • learn how to refine the foreground, highlighting the main characteristic features;
  • easily define the plumage of the falcon, while keeping it realistic.
Day 2

Drawing a «Tiger Cub»

In the lesson, we will:

  • analyze the features of the formation of the head, located in three quarters;
  • find a variety of shades on the white fur of a tiger cub;
  • imitate stripes, not allowing decorativeness in the work.
Day 3

Drawing a «Bear Cub»

In the lesson, we will:

  • pay attention to the drawing of the bear, avoiding popular mistakes in animalier works;
  • paint the bear's fur, creating a plush effect;
  • with the help of tone, we will show the volume of the animal.
Day 4

Drawing a «Fox Cub»

In the lesson, we will:

  • learn how to form an animal from a complex angle
  • create gradients and features of the fox cub color
  • learn how to depict the expressive look of the animal.
Day 5

Let's draw a «Squirrel»

In the lesson, we will:

  • compose the main character on the sheet and make a light pencil sketch;
  • master the technique of multi-layered watercolor and convey the texture of fluffy fur using spectacular techniques;
  • learn about the features of backlight and convey the glow of the pile.

Brushes
 
  • Flat synthetic wash brush about 5 cm (Pinax).
  • Synthetic brushes larger and smaller (No. 3, 4), e.g. Pinax Oro Rosso or Malevich Frida. Any thin brush will be useful for fine lines.
  • Mixed brushes No. 6. Main working brushes are a mix of squirrel and synthetic. Round, 5–8 mm at the base or larger. The main thing is a sharp tip. For example, teacher uses Roubloff Aqua Sable Mix, Pinax Poseidon, and Roubloff QF10 squirrel imitation.

  • Simple pencil HB
  • White gel pen or white gouache (if there is no masking fluid for drawing whiskers in the “Jaguar” lesson)
  • Eraser / kneaded eraser
  • Masking tape
  • Masking fluid Senelier (other brands are usually too thick and apply with rough strokes)
  • Waterproof board (plexiglass, PVC, or made from window slopes). The surface must be waterproof, and the board should be larger than the sheet size
  • Light table for transferring drawings
  • Tracing paper the size of the sheet (or white baking paper), if there is no light table
